Reviving the good vibrations of the 1960s, David “Ducksy” Moynihan, singer-songwriter,composer and instrumentalist, is gradually becoming one of the most exciting acts in today’s music scene. Born in the picturesque village of Carrigrohane in County Cork, Ireland, David’s imaginative performances and inventive arrangements bring an engaging and deeply touching sensibility to many of his songs.
His first album The Echoing Refrain (released 2012) was a promising debut that investigated the troubles of everyday life and how best to overcome them. A critical success, this song- cycle revealed Ducksy’s love of wisdom, wit and character and his desire to create a modern contemporary sound which was reminiscent of artists such as John Lennon, Gilbert O’ Sullivan and Jim Croce.
More recently, Ducksy has shown his willingness to experiment with different musical styles through a notable change in musical direction. This is apparent is his latest release:”Twisted Love”. Inspired by classic power pop songs of the 1970s-like
Nick Lowe’s “Cruel To Be Kind”-the track is a radical departure from the sparse, stripped-down nature of his earlier work and effectively showcases his brand new sound.
With a highly anticipated seven track EP in the making, there is plenty yet to come for David “Ducksy” Moynihan whose work aims to liberate a positive change within us through the power of song.
